The Herbert Protocol

Posted in: Adult Carers, Respite Care

This initiative is named after George Herbert, a war veteran of the Normandy landings, who lived with dementia. It was introduced by Essex Police recently to support the swift location of vulnerable individuals that go missing in Essex.

Carers complete a form recording vital details including a photograph, medication required, mobile numbers, places previously attended, daily routine etc. In the event of a person with dementia going missing, the form can be easily handed to the police to assist a quick response and help locate the missing person.

To obtain a copy of the form please go to www.essex.police.uk/advice/herbert-protocol/
