Last year I took my husband, who has dementia, to his first day at the AfFC’s day centre at Tiptree.  It had been a hard decision to make and a long time in the making.  But I needn’t have worried as we were welcomed into the group by all the lovely volunteers and they made me feel immediately at ease about leaving my husband with them. Since that first day, they have also been there for me with one of their wonderful hugs and a cup of tea when I have been having a difficult day.

During the Coronavirus lockdown, AfFC has regularly kept in touch and are always at the end of the phone should I need to talk with someone. It is very reassuring, in this period of isolation and uncertainty, to know that they are there for me if I hit difficult times.

Sometimes, as carers, we need a carer too when the road gets bumpy. AfFC is always there to listen, to offer advice and to help and support in any way that they can.
