Carers Reference Group

Action for Family Carers’ Reference Group met on 26th September in Brentwood, where four Carers joined our Chief Executive, the Head of Carer Services and a Trustee to put our Values into practice: to engage and involve Carers in decisions that affect them and the development of the charity.

We were joined by Dave Fazey, Commissioner from Basildon & Brentwood Clinical Commissioning Group who asked the group for their advice on how best to involve Carers in Personal Care Planning. The group also helped inform development of the Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) section of our new website, advising us on the information that Carers would want to see.

Although we have only met a few times, the Carers Reference Group is already supporting the development of our services and, particularly, our understanding of what Carers really need and want. Our Carer members are constructive and happy to share their views and expertise. We would love to grow the membership of this group so if you would like to find out more about the work of the Carers Reference Group, or to book a place at the next meeting which will be held in Witham in January 2018, please contact Heather.beach@affc.org.uk or telephone 01621 851640.
