Home 9 Our Services 9 Young Carers 9 Young Carer Support Service

We provide support for young carers in West Essex (Harlow, Uttlesford, Epping districts), Northeast Essex (Colchester or Tendring districts) or Mid Essex (Braintree, Maldon, Chelmsford districts).

We understand that sometimes you might need a bit of extra support and somebody to talk to about your situation.

One-to-one support

We can arrange one-to-one support sessions giving you a safe place where you can discuss your worries with somebody who understands and will listen. We can meet you at your school, but this could be elsewhere if you prefer.

Practical support

We can provide practical support such as talking to your school, so teachers understand your situation and can better support you or giving you information about how to access Respite Clubs in your local area.

Group support

Our group work in schools involves getting Young Carers together in small groups, providing the opportunity to talk to other children who understand, meet new friends, socialise and take part in fun activities such as arts and crafts or games. Sometimes we might organise exercises and activities to help you deal with negative emotions and build confidence and self-esteem or practical subjects such as First Aid Training, Fire Prevention Awareness training or Managing Finances.

Transition support

We can support you through the important changes in your life such as moving from primary to secondary school or from being a Young Carer to an Adult Carer.

Support for schools

We know that juggling caring with your education can be difficult. We can support schools to better identify, understand and support Young Carers.
