We’re looking for a manager of our services for children and young people. You will lead our Young Carers provision across Essex ensuring that the support we provide is effective and efficient, that team members feel motivated and supported and, most importantly, that Young Carers in Essex are safe, able to enjoy their childhood and can fulfil their potential. You will be a member of the Senior Management Team working closely with the Chief Executive Officer helping to steer the future direction of the charity.

What We Offer:
Starting Salary: Band 8, £33,057 per annum FTE

Job Description
ROLE PURPOSE:
Management of all aspects of the Young Carers Service to achieve positive outcomes for Young Carers and Young Adult Carers.
MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Service Management
1. Ensure consistent and efficient delivery of safe and effective support for Young Carers and Young Adult Carers
2. Identify, evidence and respond to areas of unmet need and gaps in service provision including through engagement with Young Carers and families
3. Represent and promote Action for Family Carers and the Young Carers Service at external meetings and events
4. Ensure a prompt and professional response to all enquiries and referrals
5. Lead on internal and external communication relating to Young Carers · Maintain positive and effective working relationships with key stakeholders
6. Contribute to external marketing and promotional resources and activity including flyers, website, newsletter and social media content
7. Develop new projects/services, budgets and delivery models
8. Support development of funding proposals and applications
9. Support and develop fundraising and income generation activity
10. Ensure accurate and timely recording of all interventions on CRM
11. Actively contribute to planning, review and development as part of the Senior Management Team
12. Support, monitor and enforce compliance with relevant safeguarding legislation, guidelines, policies and procedures · Carry out any reasonable task as requested by the Chief Executive Officer
People Management
- Ensure staff and volunteers have the training, resources and support needed to carry out their roles effectively
- Provide regular supervision and performance management of individual team members including completion of Annual Appraisals and Reviews
- Lead regular team meetings and support organisational meetings and development sessions
- Recruit appropriately skilled and qualified staff and volunteers

Financial Management
- Take responsibility for financial management and monitoring of relevant projects and services
- Contribute to the preparation and management of budgets within area of responsibility

Quality Assurance
- Develop and maintain quality standards and procedures to ensure services are provided in line with local, regional and national standards and best practice
- Regularly monitor delivery against quality standards and deliver improvement in service quality and performance
- Engage service users, staff and volunteers in driving quality improvement
- Contribute to organisational quality assurance activity
Monitoring & Evaluation
- Establish systems to monitor delivery of outputs and outcomes
- Review performance with Senior Management and project partners
- Support the development of relevant outcome measurement mechanisms and ensure use across the Young Carers Service
- Identify and collate evidence of impact and outcomes
- Write reports for funders and for the Chief Executive Officer
- Ensure all monitoring is completed on time and reported in an appropriate manner

Experience
Essential
- Working with children and/or young people
- Working within a health, education, youth work or social care environment
- Managing projects/services through planning, delivery and evaluation
- Managing staff and/or volunteers
Desirable
- Working with vulnerable and/or disadvantaged children or young people
- Managing complex cases including safeguarding issues
- Management within a voluntary sector/not for profit organisation
- Managing/monitoring budgets
Knowledge & Understanding
Essential
- Issues and processes related to working with vulnerable children and young people including SEND, safeguarding etc.
- Education, social care and youth service structures and systems
Desirable
- Issues faced by carers/young carers

Skills & Qualifications
Essential
- Excellent verbal and written communicate skills
- Educated to GCSE A-C in English and Maths or equivalent (e.g. NVQ2)
- Excellent ICT skills including use of Microsoft Office applications, particularly Word, Excel, Teams and PowerPoint
- Ability to use CRM (database) applications to generate management reports
Desirable
- Qualification at degree/NVQ level 4 or above or equivalent in management, health, education, youth and community work, or information, advice and guidance.
