Welcome to our December Newsletter

We hope this latest Newsletter finds you in festive spirit and we wish all Carers and their families a merry Christmas.

Action for Family Carers are delighted to announce that we have received £316,000 over 5 years from the National Lottery Community Fund to help us to expand our support for Young Carers across Epping, Harlow and Uttlesford.

James Clarke, CEO said “Young Carers often take on responsibilities normally expected of an adult including cooking, personal care and emotional support. On top of this, they still have go to school, do their homework, take exams and try and make time for themselves. Essentially, through taking on caring responsibilities, many Young Carers are missing out on their childhoods. With one in every five schoolchildren estimated to be a Young Carer, the need for our support is growing. This funding will enable us to provide vital support for Young Carers in one-to-one and  group sessions and provide them with access to regular respite breaks through our Young Carers Clubs.”

We have recently recruited a Young Carers Support & Development Worker and are now looking for a Young Carers Lead to drive this project forward. If you are interested, please apply here

Look after yourself, have a happy and healthy New Year and do not hesitate to contact us.
