Loughton Young Carers had the privilege of dining at a local Caribbean restaurant, Café Caribbean in Loughton, in celebration and acknowledgement of Black History Month.
The group enjoyed a delicious meal, with each young carer treated to a main, side and drink at a special discounted rate – a wonderful gesture from the restaurant team.
A huge thank you to owners Warren and Louise, who shared:
“It was our pleasure to have you all and what a lovely group of kids!“
Special thanks to Jordan, for the warm hospitality and kindness. The evening was made even more special when two of our young carers were surprised with desserts to celebrate their birthdays! Yum!
Our Young Carer Clubs give children and young people the opportunity to take part in experiences they might not otherwise be able to enjoy at home – whether that’s due to financial pressures when a family member is living with a life-limiting illness, disability or addiction, or because simply getting out of the house can be a logistical challenge when you’re caring for someone.
Our Club Leads work hard to plan activities that not only provide respite and fun, but also offer opportunities for learning and cultural engagement – such as celebrating Black History Month, exploring new cuisines, and broadening horizons in a safe, supportive environment.
Moments like these remind us how generous our local communities can be, and how important it is to give Young Carers the chance to relax, connect and experience something new together.
🩷 Thank you Café Caribbean for your support and generosity.
