Carers Information and Support Programme (CrISP)

Caring for someone with dementia can be rewarding. But we know that it can also be very challenging. There is support available to make sure you have the information you need to take care of your loved one and yourself.

Carers & families living in Essex can access:
• One-to-one support, in person or on the telephone
• Courses, in person and online
• Peer support – join a group to make new friends, gain knowledge and share experiences

Carers Information and Support Programme (CrISP) can help to provide families and carers with the tools required to cope better with life’s changes.

CrISP aims to improve the knowledge, skills and understanding of those caring for a person with dementia, by providing effective support and up-to date, relevant information. The programme facilitates and encourages peer support, and a shared learning experience. Led by trained Society staff and volunteers, the service provide a safe, accessible and appropriate environment.

There are two successive courses; one for people caring for those with a recent diagnosis, and a second to help carers manage when the condition becomes more advanced. CrISP is available face to face and online, and covers the following topics:

CrISP 1: Understanding Dementia After Diagnosis
1. Understanding Dementia
2. Legal and Money Matters
3. Providing Support and Care
4. Coping Day to Day and Next Steps
