We were delighted to welcome the Mayoress of Epping to our Loughton Young Carers Club, and it was truly a visit to remember.
The Mayoress spent quality time with our Young Carers, chatting one-to-one and taking a genuine interest in their experiences. These moments are so important. Visits like this give Young Carers the time and confidence to share their caring stories, helping them feel seen, valued and proud of who they are.
And they absolutely rose to the occasion. One Young Carer, who had never made coffee before, proudly served the Mayoress, while the group surprised her with a delicious gluten-free afternoon tea, which she thoroughly enjoyed.
A real highlight of the day was being presented with a book written by one of our newest Young Carers about the club – which even included the Mayoress’s visit. It was an incredibly moving moment and a powerful reminder of how much these Clubs’ mean to those who attend. The pride, creativity and confidence shown was inspiring.
Visits like this help reinforce the importance and value of the support Young Carers receive at Club – a safe space where they can relax, build skills, share their stories and feel understood by others who know what caring life is like.

We would like to thank the Mayoress of Epping for taking the time to visit and for making the day so special for our young carers.
