Julie Price – Trustee

Julie worked for 40 years before taking early retirement in June 2021. Her career spanned the private, public and charity sectors, working as a director at Marsh Insurance Brokers and Zurich Re, as a director in the NHS (both primary and community care) and as a director for a young persons’ charity, Place2Be. Following retirement Julie has become more involved in the charity sector utilising skills learnt in her working life.

Whilst still working in 2010, her husband was diagnosed with an aggressive cancer at a relatively young age. He lived bravely with his illness, and associated complications, for nearly a decade. Julie experienced first-hand the impact that dealing with serious illness had on her husband, their teenage son and on her, and she understands how challenging and rewarding it is to be a carer. She is particularly mindful of how family illness impacts young people. This drew Julie to apply for the role of Trustee for Action for Family Carers and she is now the Lead Trustee for Volunteers and Volunteer Led Services / Development.

Julie also volunteers at a foodbank, a homework club, a local library and at covid vaccination centres. In her spare time, she enjoys travel, yoga, creative writing and meeting up with family and friends.
