It’s all been going on at our Harlow Activity Group! They’ve recently enjoyed a special visit from Chris Vince, MP for Harlow, and a wonderful creative arts session led by Creative Mojo.
The group attendees came together to take part in an engaging arts and crafts workshop, producing a striking collaborative masterpiece! Sessions like these aren’t just about creativity – they’re about connection. Taking part in shared activities helps build confidence, lifts mood, and strengthens social bonds, which is especially important for older people who may otherwise feel isolated.
Meeting local representatives such as Chris Vince MP also adds a real sense of recognition and value. It shows our Carers, the people they are looking after and their families that their voices and experiences matter, while giving them the opportunity to feel part of the wider community.
Our Activity Groups are designed to be a safe, supportive space, especially for those living with mild dementia or memory loss. They offer stimulation, friendship, and routine – all of which play a key role in maintaining wellbeing. For Carers, the groups also provide peace of mind, knowing that their loved ones are in good hands while they take a well-deserved break.
At Action for Family Carers, we see every day how these groups enrich lives – from the laughter around the table during craft sessions, to the pride on faces when welcoming visitors, to the simple joy of spending time together.
