We did it! Action for Family Carers wins National Excellence Award
We’re absolutely thrilled to share some fantastic news — Action for Family Carers has been awarded the Carers Trust Excellence for Carers Quality Standard!
This is a huge achievement for our whole team, and we couldn’t be prouder. The award is a nationally recognised mark of best practice, celebrating organisations that go above and beyond to support unpaid carers. It recognises not just the quality of the services we provide, but also the dedication, passion, and commitment shown by our staff, volunteers, and everyone involved in our work.
We were put through a rigorous assessment that looked closely at every part of our organisation — from the support we offer carers, to how we work with local partners, our leadership, internal processes, and how we make sure carers’ voices are at the heart of everything we do.
Carers Trust had this to say in their report:
“Carers are demonstrably at the heart of everything the service does and the passion, commitment and enthusiasm of the whole team to provide excellent services for carers was very clear.”
They also praised our understanding of the challenges carers face locally and how well our services reflect the needs of our diverse community.
We are truly a community-based organisation, with our longstanding base in Maldon, we’ve been working across Essex supporting carers for nearly 35 years. We provide a wide range of practical and emotional support including information, advice and guidance, free counselling older person day care & activity groups, support groups, wellbeing grants, Young Carer Clubs alongside support for Young Carers in schools – everything we do is aimed at making life just a little bit easier for Carers of all ages.
This award is a huge moment for us. It’s a celebration of the care, energy and heart that our team brings to their work every single day. It also signals to our partners and stakeholders that Action for Family Carers is an organisation they can trust — with best practice, sustainability, and quality at the core of everything we do.
