ROLE PURPOSE:

To lead the identification, recognition and support of young carers across Essex by working in partnership with schools, further education providers and key stakeholders.

The postholder will lead education engagement, training, Young Carers in Schools Award support, partnership development, participation activity and the collection of evidence to improve outcomes for young carers and embed sustainable practice within education settings.

MAIN DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

School & Further Education Engagement

· Build and maintain positive and effective relationships with schools and further education providers across Essex.
· Devise and deliver a programme of school engagement, prioritising areas where young carers are under-identified.
· Support schools to strengthen the identification, recording and support of young carers. · Promote the Young Carers Award and encourage participation.
· Develop and maintain systems for monitoring school engagement and progress.
· Work with education settings to embed sustainable support for young carers.

Quality Improvement and Accreditation

· Support schools to work towards and achieve the Young Carers in Schools Award.
· Provide advice and practical support throughout the Award process. · Support schools to develop action plans and review progress.
· Develop resources and guidance to support Award achievement.
· Promote sustainable improvements in school practice.
· Share and promote examples of good practice.

Programme Coordination & Monitoring

· Develop and share resources and tools to support young carers in schools. · Collate and analyse programme data to monitor progress and outcomes. · Produce reports and updates for internal and external stakeholders.
· Maintain accurate records of progress and engagement across schools.

Training, Partnerships & Participation

· Develop and deliver training for schools and education professionals. · Build and maintain positive partnerships with local authorities, employers, universities, community organisations and other key stakeholders.
· Work with the Young Carer Service Manager to develop education engagement resources and quality improvement tools.
· Establish and coordinate a Young Carers Steering Group and other participation opportunities. · Enable young carers to influence education providers, local decision-makers and service development.
· Collect feedback and develop case studies to support monitoring, evaluation and reporting for funders and stakeholders.

· Participate fully with the charity’s appraisal / performance management process taking personal responsibility for the identification of learning, development and training opportunities in discussion with line manager
· Undertake mandatory training and development and as commensurate with the job role
