Introducing Jess, our Day Centre cat

Aug 5, 2025General

"Three older adults at a day centre smiling and relaxing while holding a lifelike robotic therapy cat, used to support wellbeing and comfort for people with dementia."

We’re very excited to introduce Jess, the newest member of our Maldon Day Centre! Jess is a soft, lifelike robotic cat who purrs, moves, and responds to touch and sound – bringing comfort, smiles and even a bit of fun to our clients, especially those living with dementia.

At our day centre, we’re always looking for new ways to make sure everyone feels supported, included, and at ease. That’s why we’ve added Jess to our toolkit. Tools like robotic pets are proven to help people with dementia feel more calm, connected, and engaged and we’ve already seen some lovely moments between Jess and our visitors.

Why Jess?

She offers gentle comfort and companionship
She encourages interaction, speech and smiles
She can help reduce anxiety or agitation in a safe, soothing way
And she’s just very sweet to have around!

Jess isn’t a replacement for real connection, but she’s a great addition to the warm, dementia-friendly atmosphere we work hard to create every day.
