Having responded to an advert, Denise was selected as a Trustee and shortly became the Chair. She served in that role for nearly 9 years until standing down due to the regulations of the charity. Denise has now taken on the role of Company Secretary and is happy to do whatever is needed to get jobs done!
Committed to volunteering for over 40 years locally, regionally and nationally – even when working as a Principal of a Further Education College offering education and training across South Essex, Denise wanted to do more in retirement.
Becoming a Trustee provided an opportunity to use professional skills, experience and knowledge as well as to give back and contribute to a community. Action for Family Carers as a Charity offered just what she was looking for – commitment to a cause, giving a voice and campaigning for unpaid Carers across Essex from as young as primary school age to ‘more mature years’, raising awareness and much needed funds.
